Maria C. Sanchez
Maria C. Sanchez grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. She is a 1979 graduate of the University of Missouri - St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Spanish. She then attended law school at the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida where she earned her Juris Doctor degree in 1982.
Upon graduation from law school, Maria joined the staff of the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District of Missouri, serving until 1985 as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert G. Dowd, Sr. and staff attorney to the Honorable Carl R. Gaertner.
In 1986 she joined the legal department of the United States Small Business Administration where she served as Special Assistant United States Attorney and Attorney Advisor for ten years, handling damage suits, commercial litigation, bankruptcy, real estate, and administrative agency matters.
In 1996, Maria’s legal career continued at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, where she was appointed as an Assistant United States Attorney. Maria’s practice involved personal injury, medical malpractice and fraud cases, in addition to employment discrimination, bankruptcy and immigration matters.
Since leaving government service in 2006, Maria has combined her interest in languages and travel with her practice, concentrating on providing guidance and assistance to clients both domestically and abroad, on compliance issues, employment law, federal regulatory schemes, and litigation in the United States federal court system.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Maria is fully bilingual in Spanish and English with extensive formal education and practice. She also speaks French.
Ms. Sanchez was admitted to practice in Missouri (1982) and Illinois (1983) and has achieved the preeminent AV status from Martindale-Hubbell lawyer ratings. Maria’s tireless devotion to the needs of our clients makes her a valuable member of our staff.
